Back in January, we reported that T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein signed on to star in 20th Century Fox’s highly-anticipated comic book adaptation Deadpool, although their characters were never revealed. T.J. Miller used his Twitter account last month to confirm that he is playing Weasel, the comedic sidekick to Ryan Reynolds‘ title character. Today, Ed Skrein has followed suit, posting a photo from the set on his Twitter account that confirms he is playing the villainous Ajax.

The report from January claimed that Ed Skrein was playing a villain, and there was speculation in the past that he may be playing Ajax, a character from the Marvel comics who was also a part of the Weapon X program, alongside Deadpool. Ajax is one of the characters directly responsible for turning Wade Wilson into Deadpool, and the official synopsis released last month teased that Deadpool is hunting down, “the man who nearly destroyed his life,” which most likely is Ajax. In the comics, Ajax was turned into a deadly killing machine through the Weapon X program, which made him impervious to pain while giving him enhanced strength and speed.

The supporting cast also includes Gina Carano (Angel Dust) and Morena Baccarin (Copycat), in director Tim Miller‘s superhero adventure. Production is already under way in Vancouver, with 20th Century Fox setting a February 12, 2016 release date. Are you excited to learn that Ed Skrein is playing Ajax? Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more Deadpool updates as production continues.
