‘Jack Huston Is ‘The Crow in Upcoming Remake!
Dread Central is reporting that Boardwalk Empire star, Jack Huston, has officially been cast as The Crow in the upcoming remake/reboot. The news comes from The Lexington Comic and Toy Convention where James O’Barr, creator of The Crow graphic novels, confirmed the casting himself.
“O’Barr said that “Jack Huston has definitely been cast,” that he was “really happy with that choice,” and that the film “will shoot in a couple of months.” He also said the film will essentially be a straight adaptation of his original graphic novel, which differs quite a bit from the (still awesome) 1994 Brandon Lee vehicle.”
Corin Hardy is directing the remake of the 1994 Alex Proyas-directed adaptation of the James O’Barr’s graphic novel. Cliff Dorfman wrote the script, which will go into production this Spring.
Producer Edward Pressman says the new film will attempt to reboot the franchise with a number of alterations. One is the nature of the actual Crow itself, describing it as “a creature… it’s not just a bird. It’s got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it’s very different [and has] a more active role in the story.” The new film will be set in both a small Southwest town and a larger city. The action will move from the town to the city and back again. The 1994 Alex Proyas-directed adaptation, in which rock musician Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) is murdered trying to rescue his girlfriend from thugs, and returns from the dead one year later to exact vengeance.
The Crow is in development and stars Jack Huston, Jessica Brown Findlay. The film is directed by Corin Hardy.
