Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Will Reportedly Bring Back Jar Jar Binks

An interesting new rumor has surfaced regarding Lucasfilm’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series that is sure to get the attention of Star Wars fans. According to Making Star Wars, the series will see the return of Jar Jar Binks, who, as you know was introduced to us in the Star Wars prequel films.

While a lot of Star Wars did not like or care for this character, there are some fans out there who grew up with these prequel films that do love him. So there’s no doubt that this news is going to be met with some mixed reactions.

According to the report, “Kenobi crosses paths with his old friend from Naboo, Jar Jar Binks. Early work has been conducted for the CGI Gungan’s return to Star Wars. Jar Jar has a beard to reflect where he’s been and what his life has been like since they were all deceived by a great lie that ushered in the first Galactic Empire.”

The report goes on to say that “there is a sequence where the bearded Jar Jar Binks and Obi-Wan talk about the past.”

This is just a rumor at the moment because Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed anything. But, it wouldn’t surprise me if Jar Jar showed up at some point. After all, the two characters do have a history with each other. As for who will play Jar Jar, we don’t know, but I imagine Ahmed Best could return to the role if he’s up for it. The guy went through a lot of shit after playing this character and has struggled with depression and suicide due to the backlash.

The last appearance I believe Jar Jar made was in the Aftermath book series where we learn that he becomes a clown for orphaned Naboo children in the post-Return of the Jedi era.

The Mandalorian director Debrah Chow is helming the series and there have also been reports of casting young versions of Luke and Leia.

What do you all think about the possible return of Jar Jar in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?
