Lucasfilm's HAN SOLO Standalone Film Will Start Shooting in February

I’ve already seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story twice, and I enjoyed it more the second time because I saw it in a theater full of real Star Wars fans. Press screening audiences can be a little lame sometimes. Anyway, I love what they did with this movie, and it got me even more excited for the other standalone films that Lucasfilm is developing.
The next standalone movie we will see is the Han Solo project being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and it looks like they’re going to start shooting it soon! During the UK premiere for Rogue One, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy talked to BBC’s Lizo Mzimba about the film and revealed that it would start shooting in February!
“We’re actually very close [to production]. We’re going to start shooting in February.”
There are no story details for the Han Solo film, but we know that it will take place prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. After seeing Rogue One, I can see Lucasfilm and the creative team doing some extremely cool things that could tie it into A New Hope if they wanted to.
The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo, Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke in an unspecified lead female role. I’m sure we’ll start to see more details about the film after it starts shooting. It will be released in theaters in 2018.
