Lucasfilm May Release a Third STAR WARS Series Before 2022; Could It Focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi?

It looks like The Mandalorian and the Rogue One prequel aren’t the only live-action Star Wars shows in development. Lucasfilm must be in early development on another series because according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, there’s a third show that may end up being released after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released and before the new David Benioff and D.B. Weiss Star Wars film hits in 2022.

When talking about the three year gap in-between Star Wars films, Iger explained:

“In the interim, we are producing two live-action Star Wars series for Disney+. One of them is called The Mandalorian, which is being supervised by Jon Favreau, and the other one is a bit of a prequel to Rogue One. My guess is there will probably be one more, at least one more, live-action series that we produce for Disney+, meaning a Star Wars series, before we release the next film.”

So, while the fans won’t be getting any Star Wars films for three years, at least we will be entertained with a few Star Wars series, which is just as exciting. Fans seem to be more pumped up for The Mandalorian than they do for The Rise of Skywalker anyway.

So what could the series be about? Well, a couple months ago it was reported that an Obi-Wan Kenobi series was in early development. There’s no information on who the creative team is that is developing the series, but it’s expected to only have 6 to 8 episodes and it won’t be drawn out through multiple seasons.

It was also said that Lucasfilm was looking to shoot the series at Pinewood Studios, UK. There’s no information on whether Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan, but I sure hope that he does if this series is actually happening.

Of course, there’s always the chance that there’s a completely different Star Wars series in development. An Obi-Wan series just seems to make the most sense for me. But, we’ll see!

What would you like to see this third Star Wars series focus on?
