While Star Wars fans wait to get some concrete details about Star Wars: Episode IX and see a trailer or something, director J.J. Abrams recently discussed certain aspects of the film. He recently wrapped production on the film and when talking about that all coming to a close, Abrams told ET:
“It was actually a pretty emotional thing. The cast and crew did an unbelievable job, and I just cannot wait for you to see what we got going for you.”
As you all know, there is some hate out there regarding director Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi. Some people think that the hate that has been spewed online forced Abrams to to fix things and get the franchise back on track, but the filmmaker once again confirmed that is not the case. When asked about it, this was his response
“I think every movie is its own movie. Obviously this is a trilogy. We brought to that movie all the passion and hard work we would have no matter what. I think the story speaks for itself. I really, truly can’t wait for you to see it.”
When asked if there was one word he would use to describe how he wants fans to feel after they watch the final film in saga, he says he hopes that they will leave satisfied.
“There are a lot of words that we all hope you’ll feel, and I think the biggest and most important one is ‘satisfied.’”
I hope that the fans are satisfied as well, but at this point there’s no way anything Lucasfilm can do from here on out to make the fans universally happy. Expect, maybe, if they finally remaster original cuts of the original trilogy and rereleased them!
One other thing that he talked about was working with Billy Dee Williams, who reprises his role as Lando Calrissian in Episode IX, which is something a lot of fans are very excited about. When asked about working with him, Abrams said:
“I met him once before, and he was such a sweet guy. I gotta tell you, I have such unbelievable respect for him. We had a great time, and he was wonderful… He just had this aura around him. He’s really just an incredible man and an incredible actor.”
As expected, Abrams didn’t offer up any details regarding the story. But I hope that he delivers a great film that the majority of the fans will love.
