Every Star Wars film that in the Skywalker saga has featured an epic lightsaber fight scene that has wowed fans. So, we know there’s one coming for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and we’ve seen some cool concept art teasing it. There’s also been some information previously reported on regarding a crazy form of Force Fighting.
Now Daisy Ridley is sharing some details regarding a lightsaber battle between Rey and Kylo Ren in the film. While speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ridley said:
“We have a great fight. A great fight. And I was really happy that the Vanity Fair pictures did show a bit of it. It’s a great fight. Like I’ve become such a better fighter and they made the lightsabers lighter, so it actually looks like we’re swinging light and not like heavy, heavy.”
I assume the Vanity Fair photo she’s talking about is the one that I included above where they are fighting in the middle of a crazy storm. She goes on to talk about shooting the scene saying:
“This fight, we did, it was November, we had water being thrown at us, and I got a great deal of respect because I did not, I was ‘I’m not gonna complain about the cold, I’m just not gonna do it (laughs)—so it was like a real thing of stamina. It feels really epic, and it felt epic even at the time. Imagine, we had the waves like this, and they’re gonna make the waves bigger, and one can only imagine what it’s gonna look like.”
So, it sounds like they were fighting in the middle of an ocean. Maybe around that crashed Death Star that we saw in the trailer for the film. It’ll be cool to see how this lightsaber scene and the rest of the film ends up turning out.
The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
