Some idiot with too much time on his hands has come out with an edit of Avengers: Endgame that comes complete with… well, not much. In an effort to “defeminize” the movie, he removed Captain Marvel’s character altogether, and took out any trace of women fighting or making decisions, and men hugging or showing any emotion he didn’t deem “manly.”

I’m really not sure how much was left after all that editing, but Suzanne Scott, a professor of film and media studies at the University of Texas says that this is a trend that has been happening for a while now. Apparently there was a “chauvinist cut” of 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi that removed all scenes in which women were fighting, making decisions, or acting assertive in any way, and there was only about 30% of the original film remaining. What’s the freaking point?

In a report accompanying the stupid thing, the guy says he removed the opening scene to the film in which Hawkeye is working with his daughter shooting arrows because, “Young women should learn skills to become good wives and mothers and leave the fighting to men.” Black Panther’s involvement is cut significantly because, “He’s really not that important.” (So he’s a racist too, not a huge shocker.) Spider-Man’s scenes where he is rescued and helped by women are no longer because there’s “No need to.” And male characters no longer hug, because this guy has Daddy issues.

Men like this one are disappointing, but then, I’m sure I’m just one in the long list of women they have disappointed and have yet to disappoint in their lifetimes. And no one is watching this pointless edit, except maybe other like-minded idiots (is it still like-minded if they don’t have brains?), and true fans know that superheroes have a variety of emotions, women are just as powerful and needed in the comic universe, men hug their friends, dads teach their daughters to stand up for themselves, and even men could use a rescue every now and then.
