I’ve got some great news for all of you Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars fans! Disney has announced the schedule for the the 2019 D23 Expo and as you might expect, there’s going to be a lot of cool stuff to see!
I’m a huge fan of this Disney fan event. It’s one of my favorite events to attend and they always put on a great show for the fans and show off lots of awesome stuff and have a lot of great goodies. Fans can expect to see some stuff from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, Lady and the Tramp, and of course some Marvel stuff!
The Expo takes place between August 23rd and the 25th and this is the schedule of events for those days:
Disney Legends Ceremony
At 10:30 a.m. the Expo kicks off with the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony. The ceremony will be hosted by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger. The Disney Legends Awards Ceremony recognizes “those visionaries and artists who have made significant contributions to the Disney legacy.” This year the recipients are Wing Chao, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, James Earl Jones, Bette Midler, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Ming-Na Wen, and Hans Zimmer. Typically Disney has a couple of surprise Disney Legend inductees, so stay tuned on August 23 because there might be another big name or two.
At 3:30 p.m. guests will get a first look at some of the content coming out of the brand-new Disney+ streaming service. Sneak peeks of the reimagined Lady and the Tramp, The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and more will be shown to guests of the presentation.
The Walt Disney Studios Presentation
At previous D23 Expo’s there was a live-action presentation and an animation presentation, but it seems at the 2019 expo it’ll simply be The Walt Disney Studios presentation, which will encompass both the upcoming live-action and animated films. This presentation features exclusive footage and special guest appearances. The Walt Disney Studios presentation will take place at 10 a.m.
Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Presentation
At 10:30 a.m. the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products presentation will kick off. Chairman Bob Chapek will be sharing what exciting plans are in store for the theme parks around the globe. Disney also specifically noted to stay tuned for “the transformational plans for Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.”
