THE MANDALORIAN Actor Giancarlo Esposito Teases That Season 4 Is 'When You're Really Gonna Start Getting Answers'

Fans are on the edge of our seats waiting for Season 2 of The Mandalorian to hit Disney+ next month. It’s the show that, I believe, can be credited for many of Disney+’s opening numbers, as the show launched last year with the kick off of the new streaming service, and brought fans in, in droves. The marketing for the series was kept under wraps, and the viewers were surprised by the strong story the western brought, as well as the fantastic acting, and the adorable and intriguing Baby Yoda. We know from recent reports that the show’s creator, Jon Favreau, has been hard at work developing a third season for the show, and while a fourth hasn’t been discussed or announced, it’s a no-brainer that we will get at least a fourth season.

We can’t wait to get back into the story, but one of the stars of the series, Giancarlo Esposito, who plays villain Moff Gideon, says we may have to wait another couple of seasons before we really dig into the secrets of the story. In a virtual red carpet interview before this past weekend’s Emmy’s, Esposito talked to People about the upcoming seasons, saying:

“The next season of The Mandalorian [season 2] is going to be very interesting because you’re going to start to find out the power of The Child, what The Child really means. You will also start to uncover the origins of the Darksaber that Moff Gideon has and how that plays into previous Star Wars history connected to The Clone Wars and other shows. And you’ll start to get a real dramatic sense of the territory. We’re living in a universe that’s huge, and there’s so much to explore. So I think this show is going to start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s going to come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

So they’re playing the long game. This makes sense, as Favreau has been plotting out this story for some time. It really comes through in the writing and is evident in the story and how fans have taken to the show. It’s exciting to know we are in good hands that are leading us on a great journey! Are you guys excited for a few more seasons of The Mandalorian?

The Mandalorian Season 2 is set to hit Disney+ on October 30th.
