After several years of delays without any significant movement, Nu Image/Millennium Films is finally moving forward with their Red Sonja movie, hiring screenwriter Christopher Cosmos to handle scripting duties. Douglas Aarniokoski (Nurse 3D) was also attached to direct at one point, but he is no longer involved as well. The last we heard about the project was back in 2011, when producer Avi Lerner revealed that Amber Heard was being eyed to star as the title character, with Simon West (The Expendables 2) in talks to direct.

Known in the comic books as the “She-Devil With a Sword,” Red Sonja was typically seen wearing a silver scale mail armor bikini. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are serving as executive producers. Christopher Cosmos started his career as an assistant at BenderSpink before pursuing a career as a screenwriter. He sold a post-apocalyptic thriller entitled The Fall to QED back in 2012, and he is currently developing
