John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Daisy Ridley See THE RISE OF SKYWALKER as the End for Their Characters

This latest trilogy of Star Wars has brought us some fantastic characters, including Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, Finn, played by John Boyega, and Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac. All three characters have had interesting stories so far, and fans are super stoked for the film later this month that is rumored to fill in a lot of gaps in their backgrounds and origins.

While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the final film in the nine-part Skywalker saga, fans know we are not saying goodbye to the galaxy far, far away, but we are wrapping up the stories that began inside these trilogies. Aside from these stories, there’s always room for origin stories and/or films that catch us up with the characters further down the road. In an interview with Variety, the stars talked about whether they felt this was the end of the road for them in the Star Wars universe.

Boyega was asked what it would take for him to come back to the franchise. He responded:

“In what?”

He then took a beat, and laughed, adding:

“You ain’t going to Disney Plus me! I ain’t getting no Disney Plus! I’m watching it, though, but I’ll stay in the feature films.”

Although he is pretty adamant about not joining any of the Star Wars series, he didn’t sound like he would be completely against another film, if all the ingredients were right. He said:

“As long as Daisy and Oscar are down for it, then I’ll come back.”

But his co-stars sound like they would be harder to convince. When asked, Isaac said he felt like this upcoming film felt like “the closing of a chapter” in his life. He added:

“[I’m] happy and feeling fulfilled that the task is complete. So I can’t imagine what it would be that would make me want to redo this thing or revisit it.”

Ridley had similar sentiments:

“I just don’t know if anything could top this one, honestly. I think it’s just a great story and a great close, and even though obviously the characters continue to exist, it would have to be so extraordinary [to return], and I don’t know if that’s possible.”

That’s good to hear. None of these actors seem to think there is any unfinished business with their characters, and that is hopeful for the outcome of this film. But maybe, many years down the road we will be able to get the old team back together again? We did for The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th.
