Rogue One: A Star Wars Story introduced a slew of new characters to the Star Wars universe, and the main character in that story was Jyn Erso. I actually really loved this character! She was a strong and interesting character, and then they ended up killing her off at the end of the movie!
Jyn was played by Felicity Jones, who did such an awesome job in the role! I thought she gave an incredible and memorable performance. I’d go as far to say that it was one of the best performances delivered in any of the Star Wars films.
Apparently Jones loved playing the character and would like to return to the role for more adventures. During a recent interview with Variety, she said:
“I was very fortunate in some respects that it was a one-off, so we very much explored that. But I loved playing that character, so I actually, in a opposite way, I would really like to have a little more consistency and bring Jyn back. I would actually like that for a couple of years, just to have a little bit of that stability.”
Obviously, the only way to make this work would be to tell a prequel story. She also mentions that she would like a couple years worth of work in the process. It seems like a live-action Star Wars series on Disney+ focusing on Jyn Erso is exactly what she’s looking for.
Lucasfilm is already developing a Cassian Andor series, which is set to start production in October. Would they want to dive in and play with the past of another character from Rogue One? I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing a Jyn Erso series, but what do you all think? Would you be open to it?
