Fascinating Rumor About Why Lucasfilm Isn't Developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi STAR WARS Story Yet

Here’s what Breznican had to say:

“I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the Saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan [solo film] happen beyond Episode IX.”

So there’s a chance that Obi-Wan could show up in a future Sags film, which would be pretty damn cool if it’s true. I’d love to see Obi-Wan show up again in his ghost force form. There were rumors before The Force Awakens came out that McGregor would reprise his role as Obi-Wan in the sequel trilogy, so maybe there is some actual truth to those. McGregor did end up doing some voiceover work that was mashed together with the voice of Alec Guinness in The Force Awakens saying, “Rey? These are the first steps.” The next logical step to to see his force ghost show up!

I don’t know why the character appearing in the Star Wars saga films would keep Lucasfilm from developing a standalone film project for him, but if it’s true I guess they have their reasons.

It would be interesting to see how Rey and Obi-Wan are connected with each other. Since he did talk to her, there should be something there between the two characters. Like I said earlier, though, this is all just a rumor. We’ll just have to wait and see if there is any truth to it when we see how the rest of the Star Wars saga plays out.
