Lionsgate officially announced that SNL alum Bill Hader has joined the cast of Dean Israelite‘s Power Rangers film. He will provide the voice of Alpha 5, the team’s robot who was always annoyingly yelling, “Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi!” Hader is the perfect choice to voice this character.
Alpha 5 isn’t the first robot character that Hader will have helped bring to life for a movie. His voice was also used to create the voice for BB-8 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Hader joins a solid cast that includes Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, and of course, Bryan Cranston as Zordon.
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
The new Power Rangers hits the big screen March 24th, 2017.
